What is Co-operative Education?

The UBC Okanagan Interdisciplinary Co-op Education Program offers undergraduate students enriched educational experiences through workplace learning in a diversity of organizations.

Eligibility

  • Third year students in Bachelor of Arts, Fine Arts, Human Kinetics, Management, Media Studies, or Sciences with an academic average of 70% or higher.

    * We encourage applicants with GPAs below 70% to still apply, as applications are assessed on multiple factors including communications, teamwork, maturity and demonstrated career motivation.

  • Minimum of 21 academic credits remaining after this academic year

  • Students admitted to the program will search and apply for co-op jobs, just like they would in a “real world” job hunt. Therefore, we strive to admit well-rounded students who would be strong ambassadors for the program and campus. A student’s application should reflect this, with a strong focus on professionalism in content and format.

  • Transfer students are encouraged to connect with the co-op office to confirm eligibility

APPLICATIONS

The application period for the 2022-23 academic year is September 1-30, 2022. There is only one point of entry into the program each year, interested and eligible students are encouraged to get their applications in and not wait.

Supports for Indigenous Students

UBC Co-op Programs are committed to encouraging and supporting Indigenous students to participate through continued supports and strategies to create more equitable, inclusive, and empowering work integrated learning experiences. Indigenous students will have support from both the program administrators and the Indigenous Co-op Coordinator throughout the process; from application to final work experience. In support of Indigenous student engagement in Co-op Education, the UBC Co-op Administration and Workshop fee has been waived for the 2022-23 academic year for all eligible Indigenous students.
